Beautiful Design in Unexpected Places

Photo Credit: Women In the World Sponsored article from Toyota “Why would anybody care about the design of a temporary shelter for the homeless?” It’s the one question I’m asked more often than any other. And at first blush, it’s a reasonable question. As consumers,... read more

The always-popular Dwell Home Tour takes place over three days and will allow attendees to explore the pages of the magazine. Dwell Home Tours allow design seekers to immerse themselves in “Dwell-like” domestic spaces. These unique homes are specially selected by Dwell to reflect the rich diversity of livable, innovative modern architecture and design found throughout Los Angeles.

The Home Tour architects will provide a preview of the projects that are featured on the tour during “Meet the Architects Night”, Friday, June 17 and Thursday, June 23. We’re working diligently to add more photos and home information as it comes in, so check back often!

Sunday, June 19: Mar Vista/Culver City

In a city known for its glitz and glam, Mar Vista retains California’s old school charm. With large yards, tree-lined streets and the pride and feel of a small-town, Mar Vista is the hidden gem of West Los Angeles.

Over the years, Culver City has become the epicenter for the motion picture industry thanks to MGM (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer) Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment Headquarters making the list as the city’s claim-to-fame. The not so close, yet not too far location of Culver City attracts families and trendsetters to its condensed, five square mile vicinity.

The five homes selected for Sunday, June 19 are equally as unique as the neighborhoods they dwell in.

Saturday, June 25: Eastside/Hills

Architecturally and culturally significant, LA’s Eastside is made up of small, trendy neighborhoods that are home to endless boutique shopping and an ever-growing dining scene that includes beautiful outdoor patios, diverse dining experiences and eclectic bars.

The “Hills” refers to the residential area situated within the Santa Monica Mountains that overlooks the city and is known for its breathtaking views and endless maze of windy streets that provides its exclusive residents with a sense of seclusion and serenity.

Sunday, June 26: Santa Monica/Venice

Besides the ocean allure, sandy beaches, and the calming sound of waves, Santa Monica and Venice Beach attract more than tourists to their impeccable shorelines. The locals include everyone from young families to retirees, wealthy professionals to struggling bohemians, and everyone in between.
