A native Los-Angelino and fourth generation Californian, Oliver M. Furth is a fixture in his city’s Design and Cultural communities. Before opening his interior design firm in 2005, Furth trained in Los Angeles and New York, under some of the most esteemed designers in the business; he attended Architecture School and studied Art History. Early in his career, Furth worked for Christies Auction house, in their 20th Century Decorative Arts department. As described by Elle Décor Magazine, Furth and his namesake design firm are noted for being “grounded in classical traditions, though he approaches them with aristo irreverence and West Coast optimism.”
In addition to his design practice, Furth consults for The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA,) as the Chair of their Decorative Arts and Design Council. He also serves on the Curator’s Council at LA><ART foundation, and co-produces the annual Los Angeles Antiques Art + Design Show. With a highly refined eye and his extensive design training, Furth scours the globe for the fine and the offbeat, the eccentric and the extraordinary, with a mission to push the dialogue for design and decorative arts.
Furth’s design projects and philanthropic work for the decorative arts community have received accolades from across his field, including in The Wall Street Journal, House & Garden, House Beautiful, The Los Angeles Times, The Huffington Post and C Magazine, to name a few. In 2010, Elle Decor honored Furth by naming him onto their A-List, as one of ‘Five Young Designers to Watch’. Additionally, Traditional Home called Furth one of the ‘20 top young designers in the country’, and most recently, The Hollywood Reporter included him in their 2012 list of “Hollywood’s Most Influential Interior Designers”.
