The California dream is alive and well. Collaborations between Architects and Landscape Architects can produce integrated design that celebrates both house and garden, and this session will explore those collaborations. Presenter Mia Lehrer entered the profession of landscape architecture with a focus on the design of residential gardens, establishing a methodology for her design practice that she would later apply at larger scales and to more complex projects. Working within the extents of the garden, she developed an approach to collaborating closely with her clients and architects, including Kappe, Legorreta, Mack and Lehrer, to integrate architectural features, use new construction materials and techniques, and respond to the site and its context to create ecologically sound sustainable environments through a steadfast design process.
