We welcome students to take advantage of all that Dwell on Design has to offer. There are several ways to do this.
Design Schools and Student Activities
Today’s students may be tomorrow’s household names. See what the future holds, from trends to new sustainability practices, at the Young Guns Student Design Gallery exhibition, on display all weekend in the lobby and on the show floor. Design students from the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Cal State University Long Beach, Cal Poly Pomona College of Environmental Design, OTIS College of Art and Design, Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc), USC School of Architecture, UCLA Architecture and Urban Design, UCLA Extension Landscape Architecture, and Woodbury University School of Architecture will display an array of this year’s most forward-thinking student work. In addition, from those schools that participated in this year’s charrette competing for the Julius Shulman Emerging Talent Award at the Los Angeles Business Council’s Architecture Awards held this month will also be on display.
Students and other emerging designers will also be the focus of the integrated Young Guns onstage programming Friday through Sunday. Art Center College of Design will cover Upcycling, Paul Makovsky from Metropolis magazine welcomes up-and-coming designers from Norway, young designers will get tips on how to set their fees, and finally, the Julius Shulman Institute at Woodbury University presents an exhibition preview.
The following schools were represented in 2012: Art Center College of Design, Southern California Institute of Architecture (Sci Arc), Woodbury University School of Architecture, OTIS College of Art and Design, UCLA Architecture and Urban Design, USC School of Architecture, and Cal Poly Pomona College of Environmental Design.
