architect
derives from the Latin architectus, which derives from the Greek (arkhi-, chief + tekton, builder), i.e., chief builder.
designer derives from Middle French desseign "purpose, project, design," which is from the Latin designare "mark out, devise, choose, designate, appoint," (de-, out + signum, sign), i.e., design.

Architects

In the architectural profession, technical and environmental knowledge, design and construction management, and an understanding of business are as important as design. Design is the driving force throughout the project and beyond. Dwell on Design is here to assist in providing the education and learning opportunities for connecting to these advances, offering:

Interior Designers

Interior design is the art and science of understanding people's behavior to create functional spaces within a building. Interior designers must be highly skilled in order to create interior environments that are functional, safe, and adhere to building codes, regulations and ADA requirements. They go beyond the selection of color palettes and furnishings and apply their knowledge to the development of construction documents, occupancy loads, healthcare regulations and sustainable design principles. Dwell on Design is here to assist by offering the knowledge needed for advancing:

  • Continuing Education Credits
  • Presentations by world-reknowned design professionals
  • Exhibits for sourcing new design materials
  • Book store packed with design resources
  • Inspiration in Home Tours and Show Homes
